The not-to-be-missed Ute Indian Museum and the Chief Ouray Memorial Park is located in Montrose on Chipeta Drive, just south of town off of Highway 550.  It currently is open to the public Monday thru Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Saturday 10am to 4pm and closed Sunday.

Visitors to this National Historic Site will be treated to the peaceful grounds that were once the home of the Ute Indian Leaders Chief Ouray and his wife Chipeta.  Inside the museum, you will learn of the history of the Ute people who occupied this area for many hundreds of years.  Many treasured artifacts will be seen in the spacious exhibit areas.  A stroll through the a one-of-a-kind gift shop is an experience that you won’t soon forget!
